Since our inception we’ve actively participated/initiated in community and socially responsible programs in our development areas. Below are some of our Tambor programs we sponsor and give our time for. ‘Giving Back’ is an important part of our companies mission and culture.
Everyone who visits the Tambor area is welcome to get involved with us or even start new programs.
Road Repairs
This letter is from the Municipal Council of the District of Paquera, which is the area where our Rios del Sol development is located. The council convened in order to respond to our request to perform - at our expense - extensive repairs to approximately 2 kilometers of road, including the construction of a bridge. The letter states that the council wishes us success in our projects, and authorizes Monterra to do whatever repairs we deem necessary, providing we respect the environmental regulations and obtain any permits necessary, which they know we have always done.
Because of our commitment to the neighbourhood and the environment in which we develop, we always receive the support and cooperation of the surrounding community. This, along with the many improvements we make to the community, ensures that our clients are made welcome and their property values continue to increase.

Scarlet Macaw Parrots
We are involved alongside with The Barceló Resort with one of the world most praised animal repopulation programs. The Scarlet Macaw Parrots have been in danger of extinction for years now but with our efforts and the talents of many people these majestic birds are being repopulated in our area of Tambor. This internationally recognized program has been responsible for the release of more parrots that anywhere in the world and it’s right here in Tambor, Costa Rica. Today Tambor has more Scarlet Macaw Parrots living in the wild than anywhere else in Costa Rica, you will see them when you visit.

Art and Music School
As good corporate citizens Monterra Developers support local communities by donating a portion of all property sales to assist programs for local schools, churches and for protecting the Costa Rica's environment.
This year (2007) we established a relationship with an organization called ‘Harmony' which recently opened a private art and music school for children to help meet the needs of a growing community. The school, which works directly with the Ministry of Education, offers free classes to all students. You would be amazed to see how much talent these children have just after a few lessons.

Our Community Christmas Party
Every year we look forward to this event as we celebrate Christmas with our Costa Rican staff and their families. This year the party took place in a local community hall centered in the charming little town of Vainilla. We celebrated and danced with over 150 people and Santa Claus even made a special appearance with presents for every child. Everyone is welcome to attend and we make special provisions for the elderly and disabled - even our clients come out to help with the organizing and food preparation.

Horse Show and Ride
If there is one thing that Costa Ricans are proud of it's their horses. 4 times per year we sponsor a horse show and ride in our local community of Vainilla. Horses are trained to dance, jump and perform incredible acts of discipline all without bits in their mouths. Judging is based on these performances and awards are given by the judges. If you're here during one of these events, it's not to be missed.
